Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve the abrasion resistance by adding an acrylic monomer and a UV-photoinitiator to a mixture of a water-miscible alcohol, a colloidal silica and a specific silylacrylate.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition is prepared by adding (C) 25-90 parts by weight of an acrylic monomer of formula II (R4 is polyvalent organic group; (n) is 2-6) and (D) equal or more than 5 parts by weight of a UV-photoinitiator per 100 parts by weight of A+B+C, to a mixture of a water miscible alcohol, (A) 1-60 parts by weight of a colloidal silica and (B) 1-50 parts by weight of a silylacrylate of formula I (R is a 1-13C monovalent organic group; R1 is a 1-8C alkyl; R2 is H, R and their mixture; R3 is a 1-8C alkylene; (a) is 0-2; (b) is 1-3, and (a)+(b)=1-3) with stirring.
