PURPOSE: To enhance the weather resistance of an abrasive sheet material including a backing having an abrasive layer and a pressure sensitive adhesive layer on both sides and prevent stringiness by mixing the pressure sensitive adhesive blend with specific proportions of an aliphatic polymer, an aliphatic oil, and an aliphatic resin.
CONSTITUTION: An abrasive sheet material includes a backing having an abrasive layer fixed to one side and a pressure sensitive adhesive layer on the opposite side. In the above constitution, the pressure sensitive abrasive blend contains a) an aliphatic polymer, about 10 to 50 wt.%, b) an aliphatic oil, about 10 to 50 wt.%, and c) an aliphatic resin, about 10 to 70 wt.%. In this case, ethylene/ propylene rubber or the like is used as the aliphatic polymer; low molecular weight polybutene or the like is used as the aliphatic oil; and polyterpene or the like is used as the aliphatic resin. The adhesive blend also contains an oxidation inhibitor and an additive that retards the transfer of low molecular weight components.
