PURPOSE: To make such a surface that has a variation in sudden curvature polishable as well as to make a polishing surface polishable with uniform working force over the whole surface, by polishing a workpiece in a way of pressing plural spherical abrasive tools to a workpiece surface by an elastic body.

CONSTITUTION: Plural spherical abrasive tools 4 are set up between a working rubber film 3 and a workpiece 7. And, a pressure medium is sealed in a pressure reservoir 1a, these spherical abrasive tools 4 are pressed to the working rubber film 3, a work shaft 6a is rotated, rotating the workpiece 7, and polishing fluid is fed out of a nozzle 9, thus the workpiece 7 is polished. Accordingly, even if such an aspherical form surface that has a variation in sudden curvature exists on a polished surface of the workpiece 7, it can be followed within the elastic area of the working rubber film 3 of the elastic surface, so that it is sufficiently cope with this sudden curvature variation. In addition, the polishing fluid is sufficiently suppliable, performing favorable polishing, and furthermore a core of each spherical abrasive tool 4 is composed of an elastic body of rubber or the like, so that equalization of working force is promotable over the whole polishing surface.
