To provide an ABS(Antilock Braking System) capable of improving ABS performance, a vehicle provided with the ABS, a pneumatic tyre, and a control method for the ABS.

Laser beam is applied to projecting and recessed parts formed in a buttress part 22 of the tyre 20 mounted on the vehicle from an optical sensor 14 to receive the laser beam reflected on them by the optical sensor 14. The laser beam received by the optical sensor 14 is transmitted to a computing part as pulse data to compute a rotation speed and a slip rate in the vicinity of outer periphery of the tyre 20 based on the pulse data. These results of computation are transmitted to a control part to control the rotation of the tyre 20 based on the results of computation. Since the rotation speed in the vicinity of outer periphery of the tyre 20 is directly measured in this invention, the rotation of the tyre 20 can be properly controlled, even if the tyre 20 causes torsional deformation, to improve the performance of the ABS.
