To provide an absorbent article improving an absorbing speed on the surface of a diaper, preventing reversion of the body fluid, preventing the surface of the diaper from getting wet and a user from getting a rash, providing the surface part of the diaper with flexibility and having a high article value and to provide its manufacturing method.

The absorbent article has a structure of absorbing the body fluid received through a liquid permeable surface sheet by an absorbent body and preventing its leakage to the rear surface side. The absorbent article is so constituted that (1) the compression hardness LC value of a second sheet disposed between the surface sheet and the absorbent body and composed of a nonwoven fabric is 0.15-0.25 in a compression characteristic of a KES compression test and (2) the thickness of the second sheet is larger than the thickness of the surface sheet and the thickness of the second sheet under the load of 0.5 g is 0.7-0.9 mm.
