PURPOSE: To obtain the subject composition, capable of suppressing corrosiveness of an absorbing solution, improving absorbing performance and attaining compaction of apparatuses, by adding oxide of Li and a group VI element, etc., to an aqueous solution consisting essentially of lithium bromide and lithium iodide.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition obtained by adding (B) (i) preferably 50-10000wt. ppm oxide of Li and a group VI element, such as Mo, Cr or W, and (ii) preferably 20-5000wt. ppm lithium hydroxide to (A) an aqueous solution consisting essentially of lithium bromide and lithium iodide. Furthermore, the mixing ratio of the component (A) is preferably 70-99mol% lithium bromide and 30-1 mol% lithium iodide. The above-mentioned composition is also sufficiently applicable to a conventional lithium bromide-water based absorbing solution.
