Title:
ABSORBENT MATERIAL, ITS COMPOSITION AND ITS PRODUCTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH026652
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a disposable sanitary absorbent material having good liquid absorption capacity and liquid holding property by mixing cellulose fibers, specified synthetic fibers and low melting point polymeric material, forming the mixture into a desired shape, heating and melting to fix the framework.

CONSTITUTION: This absorbent material is produced from a dry mixture of cellulose fibers, synthetic polymer material and synthetic fibers. At least 90 wt.% of the synthetic fibers consist of bicomponent side by side-type composite synthetic fibers having 3 to 60 mm fiber length, preferably 5 to 20 mm, and 1.5 to 7 dtex fineness, preferably 1.7 to 4 dtex. The one component of the composite synthetic fibers consists of the synthetic polymeric material above described, and the other component has a higher melting point than that of the polymeric material. After the dry mixture is formed into a specified shape, the formed mixture is heated to melt the polymeric material to bond with the synthetic fibers, and then cooled. Thus, a fiber compsn. absorbent material of a specified shape can be produced.
