The absorbent contains a water absorbent resin (A), water insoluble particles (B) and an oxycarboxylic acid (C) as essential constituents. As the water insoluble particles (B), silica, of which the a specific surface area of 80-500 m2/g measured on the basis of JIS Z8830 (2001-th year) and the pH (25°C) of its 4 wt.% aqueous dispersion is 3-6, is preferable and the acid dissociation index (pKa; 25°C) of the oxycarboxylic acid (C) is preferably 2-6. On the basis of the weight of (A), the content of (B) is preferably 0.01-5 wt.% and the content of (C) is preferably 0.05-15 wt.%.
