To obtain an acceleration sensor which is designed so that a stress may be applied to a stress-sensitive element as far as possible.
This acceleration detecting unit includes a fixed member which is not displaced by impression of acceleration, a movable member which is supported by the fixed member by the medium of a beam, the stress-sensitive element, a permanent magnet which is joined to the movable member, and an electromagnetic coil which is not in contact with the permanent magnet. The beam is so constituted that it has such a flexibility that it can be so deformed as to displace the movable member in the direction of the acceleration detection axis when the acceleration is impressed on the movable member. One fixed end of the stress-sensitive element is supported by one lateral side of the fixed member, while the other fixed end of the stress-sensitive element is supported by one lateral side of the movable member. The permanent magnet is joined to the end part of the movable member which is opposite to the beam, and the electromagnetic coil is held in non-contact so that it surrounds the outer circumference in the direction of the short side of the permanent magnet.
