To enhance responsiveness while letting a stepping force have hysteresis characteristic and simplifying an active control mechanism for pushingly returning an acceleration pedal for avoiding danger or notifying of danger.
A housing 10 for turnably supporting a pedal arm 20 around the predetermined pivot axis between a rest position and the maximum stepped position, a hysteresis generation mechanism 40 abutted on a neighborhood to an upper end of the pedal arm and making the stepping force of the acceleration pedal generate hysteresis, and the active control mechanism 60 for pushingly returning the pedal arm toward the rest position between the pivot axis and the hysteresis generation mechanism under a predetermined condition are provided. The active control mechanism has a drive source 61 provided to the housing and a returning lever 62 turning in the same direction as the rocking of the pedal arm cooperated with the drive source and separably engaged with the neighborhood to the upper end of the pedal arm. Thereby, the hysteresis characteristic is provided in the stepping force, the simplification and miniaturization of the active control mechanism are attained, and the responsiveness of active control is enhanced.
