PURPOSE: To improve the accelerating ability by changing output of an engine so as to make judgement of a slip generously during travelling on a bad road in a vehicle which performs traction control to reduce output of the engine when a slip of driving wheels is detected.
CONSTITUTION: A traction controller 15 inputs output signals from each wheel speed detecting means 11 14 and calculates an amount of slip DV in response to the difference between a driving wheel speed VF and a standard wheel speed VΦ calculated based on a driven wheel speed VB. From a correction torque TP obtained by multiplying DV by a factor Kp, a correction torque TG obtained by integrating DV, and a standard torque TG obtained from an acceleration of VB, a target torque TΦ is obtained from the following equation: TΦ = TG - TP - TS. When DV is larger than a specific value, output of an engine is controlled based on TΦ. In this instance, the standard wheel speed VΦ is obtained from the following relationship: VΦ = K.Vb + β, where β is changed in accordance with the car body acceleration.
