This device is provided with a cam 6 provided in a pedal arm 3, a sliding plate 11 sliding on the cam 6, and a spring 12 for pressing the sliding plate 11 to the cam 6, and for making pressing force variable in response to an expanded condition. A sliding part is displaced to increase or decrease the pressing force of the spring 12 nonlinearly by providing the sliding part for the cam 6 and the sliding plate 11 for displacing the pressing force of the spring 12 nonlinearly in response to a rotation of the pedal arm 3, sliding resistance between the sliding plate 11 and the cam 6 based on the pressing force is also nonlinearly increased or decreased in the same manner, and a pedaling force characteristic nonlinearly increased/decreased is provided thereby to allow control other than linear control.
