Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enhance the rigidity of a waved plate-shaped band member and maintain the formation density of cellular ventilation hole passages of exhaust gas by providing a fine uneven rough surface area at least on the surface of the waved band member of band members constituting a honeycomb body. CONSTITUTION:An exhaust gas purifying device A has a honeycomb body 1 formed by winding a flat plate shaped band member 11 and a waved plate shaped band member 12 spirally. The ventilation hole passages, that is cells 13 are formed by superposing them 11, 12 alternately. In this case, at the part of the waved band member 12 being in contact with the flat plate shaped band member 11 a fine uneven roughed area 12W is arranged. In the case where between projections of a forming gear FG waving is for example formed passing through the flat band member 11, the waving work and the roughed area 12W are simultaneously formed by roughing FG one of gears, wherein the roughing conditions, that is the height of unevenness are set to 5 - 50mum, and the forming density of the unevenness 1 - 10<3> pieces/mm<2>.
