Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an accumulator fuel injection system that reduces the fuel quantity that a low pressure pump 3 must force-feed, in a design having a boosting unit 7 or a boosting common rail 6 and circulating leak fuel from a high pressure side to a low pressure side.
SOLUTION: Focusing on returning high pressure leak fuel between the low pressure pump 3 and a high pressure pump 5, the accumulator fuel injection system has the low pressure pump 3 for force-feeding fuel from a fuel tank 2, the high pressure pump 5 for changing the fuel from the low pressure pump 3 to high pressure fuel, the accumulator (common rail) 6 for storing the high pressure fuel from the high pressure pump 5 at a given pressure, injectors 8 connected to the accumulator 6 to inject the high pressure fuel, and the boosting unit 7 disposed between the injectors 8 and the accumulator 6 to pressurize further the high pressure fuel. Leaked fuel from the boosting unit 7 is returned downstream of the low pressure pump 3 via a unit leak passage 17.
