Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a new acetylene derivative excellent in quick response and ferroelectricity, thus useful as a material for light switching elements and liquid crystal display elements, etc.
CONSTITUTION: This compound, a new acetylene derivative, is expressed by formula I [R is H, F, trifluoromethyl, trifluoromethoxy, cyano, a R1-(cycloalkyl), R1-(cycloalkenyl), or R1-(O)m; R1 is a (halogen-substituted) 1-15C alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl; (m) is 0 or 1; R2 is a (halogen-substituted) 1-15C alkyl, alkenyl. etc.; E is CH=CH or C=C; Z is H or F; A1 and A2 are each of formula II ((i) is 0-3), etc.; (r), (s) and (t) are each 0 or 1; 9n) is 0-8], e.g., 1-(4- decyloxyphenyl)-2-(4-(6-hydroxy-1-heptynyl)phenyl)acetylene. The compound of formula I is obtained, for example, by reaction between an ethynylbenzene derivative of formula III (D is a halogen, etc.) and a boron compound of formula IV (R3 is hydroxyl, etc.) in the presence of a basic substance.
