Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL:The acid amide derivative of formula I (R is H or CH3; R1 is H, halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, CN or CF3; A is N or CH).

EXAMPLE: N-phenyl-2-[4-(benzothiazolyl-2-oxy)phenoxyl]propionamide.

USE: A selective herbicide exhibiting strong herbicidal effect against gramineous weeds such as cockspur-grass, green foxtail, large crab-grass, etc., with little influence to gramineous crops such as rice, wheat, etc., having excellent durability of the activity and applicable in wide range either by soil treatment or foliar treatment.

PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting the compound of formula II with the compound of formula III (Hal is halogen) or reacting the compound of formula IV with the compound of formula V using a proper base in the presence or absence of a solvent.
