To provide chewing gum having a conventional single layer structure and excellent flavor enabling continuous feeling of acidity without the need of sealing acidity components into carrier like matrix.

An acidity sustaining chewing gum composition contains >0.3 wt.% and <15 wt.% of fumaric acid, and as a masking agent for astringency of fumaric acid. As the masking agent one or two kinds selected from 0.001-0.06 wt.% of sucralose and 0.001-2.6 wt.% of aspartame are contained. A method for producing the chewing gum composition having a single layer structure as it is and no astringency, and sustaining acidity more than 10 min without using specific carrier is also provided.
