Abstract:
PURPOSE: To sufficiently cool a pressure impulse source, dearest a transmission medium, and generate continuous pressure impulses having reavly identical characteristics. CONSTITUTION: A pressure impulse generator is provided with a pressure impasse source 2 which has a membrane 11 impulsively driven so as to generate pressure impulses in liquid acoustic transmission medium, the membrane 11 partitions a chamber for storing the acoustic transmissions medium, a wall 14 which is opposed to the membrane 11 and partitions a chamber into two volumes is provided therein, and an inlet 17 which is opened to one of the partial volumes for circulating the acoustic transmissions medium stored in the chamber and an outlet 18 led out from the other partial volume are provided. These partial volumes are connected to each other by a restricting device 16 and the restricting operation of the restricting device 16 is selected so that the acoustic transmission medium stored in the partial volume positioned between the wall 14 and a membrane 17 can receive a static pressure for returning the membrane 11 to the initial position.
