To provide a new layer structure and a related manufacturing process which can significantly increase the performance of a wall, a ceiling, a floor, or a door used for preventing the permeation of sound from a certain room to an adjacent room, or from the outside of the room to the inside of the room, or from the inside of the room to the outside.
An improved acoustical damping wall (ceiling or floor) or a door material has a layer as its integral part which is formed of one or a plurality of viscoelastic materials which also function as an adhesive, and also has one or a plurality of constraint layers such as a plastic, a vinyl polymer, a petroleum system product such as a plastic or rubber, a metal, cellulose or wood. In an embodiment, a standard wall board (usually plaster) includes an outer surface having a layer structure, and one or a plurality of constraint layers are formed between the outer surfaces of the plaster. As a result, the damping of sound which permeates the structure can be improved.
