To obtain a new compound having plural acridinium rings in the molecule, expressing high luminous efficiency, excellent in stability, and useful as a chemical luminous substance for labeling special bond substances.
This compound is represented by formula I (A is a linker; Z is a binding group; Y is a counter ion; R1, R2 are each a substituent; p, m are each 0-4, n is 2-5; X is an organic mediating group which has at least n- valencies, has an aryloxy group or an arylsufonamide group and is bound to the carbonyl carbon bound to the 9-position of the acridinium ring through either one of the groups), e.g. 2,2'-bis(10''-carboxymethylacridine-9''-carbonyloxy) biphenylbistrifluoromethane sulfonate. The compound is obtained by reacting 1mol of a X group-having compound with two or more mols of a compound of formula II and subsequently reacting the 10-position's nitrogen atom of the acridine ring of the obtained compound with a compound having a Z-A- group.
