Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively prevent the mutual fusion of the fibers in a flame- resisting process and in a carbonization process by adding a specific emulsion to the fibers in stead of a silicone oil agent.
SOLUTION: (A) A terminal amide compound produced by the reaction of an aliphatic alkanolamide with the condensation product of a dibasic acid with a polyol having oxyalkylene units and (B) the alkylene oxide adduct of an amide compound produced from a polyamine and a fatty acid are imparted to acrylic fibers of carbon fiber precursors. The components A and B are added in a total amount of 0.01-0.8wt.%, and preferably in a weight ratio of 8:2 to 5:5. The components A and B enable to prevent the lowering of the operability for producing the fibers with a silicone oil agent.
