To provide an acrylic resin for powder coating capable of forming a coated film having excellent appearance and shape without impairing each coated film performance such as storage stability, smoothness, solvent resistance, acid resistance, impact resistance.
This acrylic resin for powder coating is obtained by carrying out suspension polymerization of 100 pts.wt. vinyl-based monomer mixture containing a styrene-based monomer and glycidyl methacrylate as essential components under ≥196 kPa polymerization pressure at a temp. of ≥100°C. In this time, it is preferable that the above-mentioned styrene-based monomer is compounded in an amount of 10-50 wt.% based on acrylic resin and the glycidyl methacrylate is compounded so that epoxy equivalent in the acrylic resin becomes 250-650 g/eq.
