Abstract:
PURPOSE: To effectively use strained lees of palm oil which is produced in a large amt. in Malaysia and is regarded as the source of waste pollution, and to massproduce an adsorbent having high physical property at low cost.
CONSTITUTION: Strained lees of palm oil as it is, or preliminarily carburized in a sealed calcination furnace such as an external-flame muffle furnace, is blended with clay, molded or granulated, and then continuously calcined at low temp. in a reductive or sealed state to obtain an activated ceramic. The obtd. ceramic is in a solid state of mixture of carbon particles and clay particles adhered or bonded to each other.
