Abstract:
To provide the subject activation material enabling the contact with waste water even at a time of water shortage and capable of always keeping a high denitrification ratio.
An activation material for denitrifying nitrate nitrogen comprises a mixture of a nitrate nitrogen denitrifying substrate wherein a calcium carbonate-containing substance and sulfur coexist with mineral fibers. A part of the calcium carbonate-containing substance in the nitrate nitrogen denitrifying substrate may be substituted with a cation exchange substance and a microporous substance may be allowed to coexist. Granular rock wool is preferable as the mineral fibers.
