Abstract:

To provide an active carbon carrier which, in order to improve the reaction efficiency of hydrogenation and dehydrogenation reactions by a catalyst, has a large specific area and excellent in thermal conductivity and diffucibility of hydrogen gas, a reaction raw material, and a product, and catalyst-carrying active carbon.

The active carbon carrier is composed of fibrous active carbon, and characterized in that the amount of the total acidic functional groups of the fibrous active carbon is at least 0.1 meq/g, and gas-permeability is at least 200 cm3/cm2s. The carrier preferably has a toluene adsorption capacity of 20-50 g/m2 or a specific surface area by a BET adsorption isotherm method of 600-2,000 m2/g. The catalyst-carrying active carbon, is characterized by being obtained by carrying the catalyst on the active carbon carrier.
