Title:
ACTIVE MATRIX DISPLAY DEVICE AND ITS DRIVING METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH05307193
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To cancel a phenomenon wherein a voltage varies by inputting the potential of a counter electrode to a pixel electrode in synchronism with gate pulses. CONSTITUTION:Variation DELTAV in the potential on the data side of the pixel electrode is shown by the equation, where C1 is the parasitic capacity between a gate electrode and the pixel electrode, CLC the capacity of the pixel electrode, V0 the potential of the counter electrode to a pixel in a normal (unselected) state, VG the wave height of the pulse of the gate electrode, and Vs the potential of the counter electrode when the pulse is ceased at the pixel electrode. If VS=V0, a data signal is only decreased by DELTAV as usual. When, however, a condition VS-V0-C1V1/CLC is satisfied, DELTAV becomes 0. For example, when C1=CLC, DELTAV is 0 by mutual cancellation by letting VW-V0=V1. Thus, the positive method which canceling DELTAV by generating a voltage rise opposing DELTAV is employed.
