PURPOSE: To realize the high opening rate of the active matrix liquid crystal display panel.
CONSTITUTION: Pixel electrodes 16 having switching elements 14 and a common electrode 17 to serve as a common potential are formed on one sheet of the substrate of plural array substrates 11 constituting the active matrix liquid crystal display panel. These substrates 11 are stuck to each other in such a manner that the pixel electrodes 16 and the common electrodes 17 face each other. The periods when the scanning buses of the respective substrates are scanned are equaled in the panel formed with the common electrodes 17 along the scanning buses 13. The wirings and switching elements which are the non- display parts formed on one sheet of the array substrate are decreased in such a manner. The active matrix liquid crystal display panel having the high opening rate is obtd. by sticking two sheets of such substrates to each other in such a manner that the wirings and the switching elements 14 overlap each other. Two sheets of the array substrates constituting the panel are scanned independently at the same period, by which the panel having a large number of the pixels is obtd. without degrading the display grade.
