PURPOSE: To provide an inexpensive active oxygen scavenger safe to human bodies, excellent in scavenging effect to active oxygen causing various disorders, also easy to produce and suppliable stably.

CONSTITUTION: This active oxygen scavenger is any one of the following or contains the following; (1) a ground product of rice or germinated rice; (2) an extract of rice or germinated rice; (3) a product obtained by enzymolysis of a hydrated rice or hydrated germinated rice, or by making koji act on such rice; (4) a product obtained by enzymolysis before, during or after extracting rice or germinated rice, or by making koji act before, during or after extracting rice or germinated ride; and (5) a product obtained by alcoholic fermentation or organic acid fermentation of a rice extract or germinated rice extract, or of a product formed by enzymolysis of such extract or by making koji act on such extract.
