Abstract:
PURPOSE: To guide a needle enveloped in a sterile coating in a coaxial relationship with a transmitted beam by providing a sterile connecting member including a needle guide duct for deflecting an ultrasonic beam between a probe and the surface of a body. CONSTITUTION: A puncture device includes a connecting member 1 having a housing 11 made of a synthetic plastic material, an ultrasonic reflector 12 composed of a flat metallic plate, a needle guide duct 13 penetrating the center area of the reflector and an ultrasonic probe 20 connected to the fixed part of the puncture device by a cable 21. The ultrasonic probe 20 emits an ultrasonic beam (arrow μ) into a cavity 15 filled with connection gel, which is reflected to an exit opening 15a by the reflector 12. The ultrasonic beam is outgone in a direction vertical to this circular opening and the needle guide duct 13 is also vertical to the exit opening 15a. The connection cable 21 and the connecting member are packed in a sterile state, unpacked just before processing to be connected to the ultrasonic probe 20 and thereby a sterile puncture device is constructed.
