Abstract:

To effectively provide 1,3,5-tricarboxyadamantane.

The 1,3,5-tricarboxyadamantane is produced by contacting adamantane with carbon monoxide and oxygen in the presence of an oxidation catalyst composed of an imide compound (N-hydroxy phthalimide etc.) represented by formula (2). In the formula, R1 and R2 are each H, a halogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, a cycloalkyl group in the formula, while R1 and R2 may form a double bond, an aromatic or non-aromatic ring by mutually bonding. Y is O or OH, and n=1-3.
