Abstract:
PURPOSE:To restore information without degrading the visual characteristic by reducing the minimum value or the number of bits for the dynamic range with simple circuit constitution, decreasing the information volume and realizing long-time recording on a recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A maximum value MAX and a minimum value MIN detected in each block are detected from data by a maximum value and minimum value detecting part 13 and are supplied to subtractors 15 and 16 and a frame conversion part 19. Subtraction results from subtractors 15 and 16 are outputted to a bit number reducing conversion part 17 and a quantizer 18 respectively. The bit number reducing conversion part 17 outputs a minimum value min corresponding to the value DR of the dynamic range to the frame conversion part 19, and the quantizer18 supplies requantized digital data DT to the frame conversion part 19. The output signal from this part 19 is outputted through an output terminal.
