Title:
OPTICAL FIBER CONNECTOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3140532
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide an optical fiber connector which is the same as a DORRAN connector but can be used without tools.
CONSTITUTION: An optical fiber connector 10 includes a narrow and long mandrel 11 having a practically uniform elliptic cross section, and the mandrel 11 is enclosed with an elastically deformable housing 16 and when the housing 16 is not deformed and two optical fibers have end parts pressed to a straight lengthwise-direction groove 13 on the surface of the mandrel 11 in this state, they are optically connected to each other. This mutual connection is faciliitated furthermore by providing a sheath 17 having a pair of levers 18 as one body integrated with the housing 11 or around the housing 11, and these levers are compressed together by fingers to deform the housing 11. Terminals 19 of levers 18 are so formed that the connector 10 can be freely releasably attached to a backplate panel or an optical fiber distribution module.
