Abstract:
PURPOSE: To eliminate welding between a flange and an angular shaft and to promote productivity and fatigue strength by welding an angular boss formed as a unit to the upper surface of the flange, and forming the angular shaft in the lower surface of the flange as a unit.
CONSTITUTION: The upper surface of a flange is formed in a recessed shape, the lower part 13a of an angular boss section 13 is fitted to a recess section 12a to weld the peripheral surface, and it is combined with the angular boss section 13. The lower surface of the flange 12 is combined with an angular shaft 11, and revolving torque transferred from a kelly bar 2 can be transferred to the angular shaft 11 from the flange 12 without requiring welding. The decline of strength by welding defects is prevented, and a great deal of welding made to a comer section of the angular boss section 13 is eliminated to promote fatigue strength. In addition, the flange 12 and angular boss section 13 have fitting construction to prevent misalignment between the flange 12 and angular boss section 13, and welding of the peripheral surface is easily and surely is made. According to the constitution, joint between the flange 12 and angular boss section 13 is firmly made and, at the same time, reliability can be promoted in comparison with a conventional method.
