To provide a new adaptive controller and a new adaptive control method.
The adaptive controller generates a series of dither signals for each of multiple control parameters. Each dither signal sequence has no correlation with any other dither signal sequence. Each nominal control signal has a first value of each dither signal, which is summed with a dither signal value, and generates a control parameter used by the controller. An update control signal is applied to the output of the controller so that a performance evaluation criterion is obtained and stored. A second signal in an dither signal sequence is summed with these respective nominal control signals and applied to the controller in parallel so that a second performance evaluation criterion is obtained and stored. A series of measured performance values are correlated with each dither sequence to generate a series of correlator outputs, which are the ones related to each control signal.
