To save power, while reducing the size of a device and a machine using an output regulator by improving the operational characteristics of the output regulator, and to improve the machine and the device by enhancing precision and reliability during transient state and improving the operation.
A control system controls an output regulator for converting an input voltage into a regulated output. The output regulator comprises a power stage generating a power output from the input voltage, and an output filter for filtering the power output to generate a regulated output. The control system comprises a digital controller 102, generating a drive signal for controlling the power stage, in response to a detection signal corresponding to the regulated output. The digital controller includes at least three operation modes and performs selection among at least three operation modes. The selected operation mode generates a drive signal.
