PURPOSE: To produce the catalyst that produces a high molecular polymer advantageously by combining suitable initiator components and co-catalyst components comprising anions and cations and using the catalyst for bulk polymerization where an acrylic monomer is controlled.
CONSTITUTION: The catalyst for addition polymerization is comprised of (a) a 1st component (initiator) denoted in formula and of (b) a 2nd (salt)(co-catalyst) component comprising an anion selected from azide, cyanide, cyanate, fluoride, bifluoride, and nitrate that is inert under the polymerization condition in the case of using the catalyst but makes the co-catalyst in polymerization media available. In the formula, M is Si, Ge, or Sn; m, p are each an integer, and n is 0 or an integer such that (m+n+p)=4; A is QR1R2 where Q is N, etc., and R1 and R2 are hydrocarbadiyl groups, etc.; Y is identical to X or hydrocarbyl group inert in the process condition; and Z is identical to Y, etc.
