PURPOSE: To add and transfer a functional material to a base efficiently by allowing a sublimable or evaporable functional material to come in contact with a base, then laminating an impermeable cover for functional material on the opposite surface to the contact surface of the base and causing the base to capture the functional material after sublimation or evaporation.

CONSTITUTION: A sulimable or evaporable functional material is allowed to come in contact with a base, then an impermealble cover for functional material is laminated on the opposite surface to the contact surface of the base, and the base is caused to capture the functional material by sublimating or evaporating the latter. In addition, an original image drawn or coated using a dyeing agent of sublimable or evaporable functional material is allowed to come in contact with the base for dyeing, then a cover which does not allow permeation of a dyeing agent is laminated on the opposite surface to the surface where the base comes in contact with the original image, and the original image is transferred to the base for dyeing by heating the original image and thereby sublimating or evaporating the dyeing agent. Thus it is possible to prevent the thermally sublimated or evaporated functional material from permeating through the base, and subsequently realize the efficient trapping of the sublimable or evaporable functional material in the base to enable the addition of a desired amount of the material to the base.
