Abstract:
PURPOSE: The titled additive capable of stably dispersing a coal powder in water at high concn., which contains a specified surfactant and fatty acid salt.
CONSTITUTION: A nonionic surfactant of formulaIor II (wherein RCO is 1W30C acyl; A is 2W4C alkylene; l is 0W500; m+n=0W500) or an anionic surfactant consisting of an alkali metal salt, ammonium salt or lower amine salt of the sulfate ester of said monionic surfactant is mixed with an alkali metal salt, ammonium salt or lower amine salt of a fatty acid of formula III (wherein R3 is 3W21C alkyl or alkenyl) in a proportion of about 1/9W9/1, to form an additive for a coal-water slurry. It is pref. to add about 0.01W5wt%, based on the slurry, said additive.
