PURPOSE: To improve the cleaning effect of a fuel intake system by incorporating a boric ester compd. and a basic nitrogen compd. into a liq. fuel.
CONSTITUTION: This additive compsn. is prepd. by compounding at least one boric ester compd. with a basic nitrogen compd. in a wt. ratio of 0.02-20. The former compd. is selected from the group consisting of a reactional product of an amine of formula I [where R1 is H or a 1-20C alkyl; and R2 and R3 are each a group of formula II (wherein R4 is H or methyl; and (n) is 1-10) or a 1-20C alkyl excluding the case when both of them are alkyls] with boric acid and a reactional product of alcohol and/or a monoester with boric acid. The compsn. is incorporated in an amt. of 0.1-50,000ppm into a liq. fuel.
