PURPOSE: To provide the titled additive which serves as a flowability improver capable of imparting an excellent low-temp. flowability and which comprises at least one compd. selected from particular four groups of terpolymers, copolymers or their derivatives.
CONSTITUTION: The titled additive comprises at least one compd. selected from the following four groups: a copolymer of a 20W60C α-olefin (a) with maleic anhydride (b) or a terpolymer of the components (a) and (b) with a dialkyl (1W5C) maleate (c) having a number-average degree of polymerization of 2W50 (A); a copolymer of the components (a) and (b) having a number average degree of polymerization of 2W50 (B); a (partial) hydrolyzate obtd. by hydrolyzing the copolymer (terpolymer) of the component A or light metal salt thereof obtd. by adding a light metal hydroxide to the hydrolyzate (C); and a (partial) hydrolyzate or light metal salt thereof obtd. by reacting the copolymer of the component A with a 1W5C monovalent alcohol in an amt. less than the equivalent to give a partial alkyl ester and (partially) hydrolyzing or adding a light metal hydroxide, if necessary. If desired, the compd. is dissolved in an arom. solvent and blended with other flowability improvers.
