PURPOSE: An additive for a petroleum coke/water slurry giving a stable slurry of low viscosity at high concn. which comprises a specified amide compd., an alkali metal salt, ammonium salt or lower amine salt of the sulfate thereof.
CONSTITUTION: An additive for a petroleum coke/water slurry contg. as an effective component a compd. of formulaIor II (wherein RCO is 1W30C acyl; R' is H or methyl; A is 2W4C alkylene; l,m and a are each average molar number of added alkylene oxide; l is 0W500; m+n=0W1,000), an alkali metal salt, ammonium salt or lower amine salt thereof. The compd. of formulaIor II is monoethanolamide, diethanolamide, diisopropanolamide or an addition product prepd. by adding an alkylene oxide such as ethylene oxide or propylene oxide to these amides.
