To obtain an adhesive which is excellent in storage stability and handleability, has a good adhesiveness, does not yellow even when cured, and can give a metal sheet laminate excellent in processability and retorting resistance by incorporating phosphoric acid into a resin component comprising a phenoxy resin, either a melamine resin or a benzoguanamine resin as the curative, and if necessary an epoxy resin.
0.05-2 pts.wt. phosphoric acid is incorporated into 100 pts.wt. resin component comprising 45-99 pts.wt. phenoxy resin (A), 1-30 pts.wt. curative (B), and 0-45 pts.wt. epoxy resin (C). A phenoxy resin having a number average mol.wt. of 5,000 or higher and a wt. average mol.wt. of 20,000 or higher is pref. as ingredient A. A methylolated melamine resin or a methylolated benzoguamaine resin of which at least a part of methylol groups have been etherified with methyl alcohol is used as ingredient B. A bisphenol epoxy resin is suitable as ingredient C.
