PURPOSE: To provide the title adhesive which has a high bonding strength and gives an easily handlable molding having high mechanical strengths by laminating sheets using an adhesive contg. a ceramic powder and starch in the process for producing an exhaust gas filter wherein the laminate is rolled up to give the molding which is dried and baked.
CONSTITUTION: The title adhesive contains a ceramic powder (e.g. a cordierite powder) and starch (e.g. corn starch) pref. in a ratio of the former to the latter of (1:0.2)-(1:0.3). A laminate is produced by mixing a ceramic material, an inorg. fiber, and pulp with each other, forming the mixture into a sheet, and laminating the resulting sheets using the adhesive. The laminate is rolled up to give a molding which is dried at about 100°C and baked at about 1,420°C in an electric furnace, etc. In the figure a corrugated sheet 1 and a flat sheet 2 are bonded together with the adhesive 3, and between the sheet 1 and the sheet 2 are installed spaces 4 filled with a plug material and through-holes 5.
