PURPOSE: To obtain an adhesive adaptable to the use for wall paper, sliding door paper, etc., without making the hand dirty by enclosing a prescribed amount of a granular starch for an adhesive in a packaging material made of a water-soluble film sheet and putting it in a prescribed amount of water before use.

CONSTITUTION: A prescribed amount of a granular or powdery starch for an adhesive with or without a very small amount of an additive (e.g. an antiseptic and mildewproofing agent) is enclosed in a packaging material made of a water- soluble film sheet (e.g. PVA resin sheet) and hermetically sealed to give the title adhesive. Since this adhesive consists of solid matter only, it can realize the reduction in transportation cost, the narrowing of storage space, and the reduction in weight to be carried. Because it is packed, weighing is unnecessary, the operation can be performed rapidly, and a required quantity of the paste can be prepared quickly and easily. By putting it together with the bag in a prescribed amount of water before use, the viscosity can be adjusted to suit to the use for wall paper, sliding door paper, etc., without making the hand dirty. Since it does not come into direct contact with the hand, various bacteria can be prevented from getting mixed therein, so that its decay can be prevented.
