Title:
ADJUSTABLE CLAMP FOR CONDUCTOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH05137228
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To minimize damages to an optical fiber and to retain the rated strength of a large part of a conductor by applying an essentially uniform clamping force to the surrounding of the conductor by the movement of each clamp member along two orthogonally-crossed surfaces, while the clamp member is being clamped. CONSTITUTION: A first pair of clamp members 14 and 16 are of entirely rectangular bar form and are arranged, so that they approach and are separated from each other along a first axis. Second clamp members 18 and 20 are arranged in the middle of the first clamp members 14 and 16 and move, so that they approach or are separated from each other along a second axis that orthogonally crosses the first axis. When a first pair of clamp members 14 and 16 are moved, so that they approach each other, the second clamp members 18 and 20 also approach each other by an equal distance, and all the clamp members move toward a common point that coincides with the center axial line of a conductor to be clamped. Since contact parts 30, 32, 42, and 44 are in a V-shape, they contact the conductor at two points and contact the surrounding of the conductor to be clamped at eight points.
