To form an adjusting fitting for an automobile seat, particularly an inclination adjusting fitting for the backrest part of an automobile seat, so that it wears as little as possible and is actuated very silently.

In the adjusting fitting, a fixed fitting part 1 belonging to a fixed seat area and another fitting part 2 belonging to a movable backrest part and allowing adjustment of its rotary position are coupled to each other via a driveable eccentric ring 4 in such a manner as to be rotatable about a rotational axis 3. Wedge segments 4b and 4c are formed to radially overlie each other and increase in thickness in opposite directions. In that case, the respective relatively thin end faces 4g and 4h of the wedge segments 4b and 4c project beyond the other end faces of the wedge segments opposed to the abutting surfaces 4e and 4f of an eccentric ring segment 4a, and the inner wedge segment 4b and the outer wedge segment 4c are rotatable, respectively, on an inner annular ring bearing surface and on the bearing surface of an outer eccentric rotating bearing 5a.
