Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an adjuvant that can be readily prepared in a commercial scale and can provide high-performance vaccine of high safety by using a specific saponin as an immune activator.
SOLUTION: This vaccine includes as an immune activator at least one oleanan type saponin having soyasapogenol A represented by formula I (R1 and R2 are each a saccharide chain group) as a bade skeleton, typically a compound of formula II. As an oleanan type saponin, the soyasaponin fraction that is extracted from the seeds of a leguminous plant, for example, soybean before its isolation and purification, is used as an adjuvant and is combined with other adjuvant compositions or with aluminum phosphate gel or with a W/O type oil base emulsion.
