Abstract:

To provide an adsorbent for a chlorinated organic compound, with which the chlorinated organic compound such as PCBs contained in oil such as insulating oil can be adsorbed/removed efficiently and a very small amount of the chlorinated organic compound can be removed at a cost lower than that of a chemically extracting/decomposing method, and to provide a method for separating the chlorinated organic compound by using this adsorbent.

The adsorbent for adsorbing the chlorinated organic compound in the oil containing no water substantially consists of at least one of zeolite and meso-porous silicate. The method for separating the chlorinated organic compound comprises a step to bring this adsorbent into contact with the oil which does not contain water substantially but contains the chlorinated organic compound.
