Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an adsorbent for adsorbing and separating Ni, Co and Al from an aq. soln. by using chemically modified chitosan obtd. by substituting a specified polyaminocarboxyl group for one of the H atoms of an amino group bonding to a C atom at the 2-position of chitosan.

CONSTITUTION: Chemically modified chitosan obtd. by substituting a polyaminocarboxyl group represented by formula I or II for one of the H atoms of an amino group bonding to a C atom at the 2-position of chitosan is used as the objective adsorbent. When this adsorbent is used, Ni, Co and Al are separately and selectively adsorbed. In the formula I, each of R1-R3 is a 1-3C n-alkylene and each of R4-R7 is a 1-4C n-alkylene. In the formula II, each of R8 and R9 is a 1-3C n-alkylene and each of R11-R12 is a 1-4C n-alkylene.
