PURPOSE: To simultaneously decolorize and deacidify oils and fats in a low temp. W high temp. region, by preparing an adsorbent by mixing natural bleached clay and activated clay with one or more kind of hydroxide, oxide, carbonate, sulfate or the like of an alkaline earth metal.
CONSTITUTION: An adsorbent is prepared by mixing natural bleached clay and activated clay with hydroxide, oxide, carbonate, sulfate, silicate or chloride of an alkaline earth metal. This adsorbent can be adapted to decolorization, acidification, removal of peroxide or deodorizing in a range from a low temp. zone of 80W200°C to a high temp. zone. When oils and fats are recirculated during cooking to be contacted with the adsorbent by utilizing said properties, the deterioration of oils and fats can be prevented. Further, the waste oil of oils and fats can be regenerated to oil approximate to new oils and fats by said adsorbent.
